I often joke with my husband that I will travel anywhere. Name a place and pick a date and I’m there in a New York minute! Italy is right up at the top of my list of places I want to visit. Even though I have a passport, I also have a 8 month old that’s not quite up to traveling. So…until that day arrives, I am going to do my best to bring Tuscany to my home. First place to start is the dining room table! What’s not to love about Italian food? It’s a perfect way to spend time with family and friends.

Enjoy lemons to the fullest. Citrus can add a lovely kick to any Tuscany dish, so get the most out of your lemons. Microwave them for 20 seconds or do like I do and roll on a hard surface before cutting.
Fresh spices are a must. We all know that amazing dishes start with the best spices. To get the most flavor from your spices, store them in air tight containers away from moisture and heat.
It’s all about the presentation. To easily add a Tuscany feel to your table, try adding terracotta serving bowls. Everything tastes incredible when presented in terracotta. I’m pretty sure that’s a fact. 😉
Enjoy your blooms. Flowers are important in the Italian culture. Keep them fresh longer by adding a sugar cube to provide nutrients to the water and a penny to fight bacterial growth.
No more tears. There’s no skipping on the onions when it comes to Italian food. Don’t tear up while chopping your onions though, simply refrigerate them for 30 minutes before cutting.
Skip the rinse. Every Tuscany recipe needs amazing pasta, so don’t rinse. Drain and allow the starch left on the pasta to soak up all your delicious sauce.
