It’s never too early to start planning a vacation. Hot Springs, South Dakota is the perfect place for the whole family to reconnect.
One of my favorite things to do in life is travel. I’m always on the look out for great places to take the whole family. I recently stumbled upon Hot Springs, South Dakota and was blown away by all the amazing things you can see and do. After I show you what I’ve seen, you’ll want to check out this amazing vacation destination too!
First up is the Angostura State Recreation Area, that has some breathtaking scenic views. It includes 36-miles of shoreline and some of the finest sandy beaches in the state of South Dakota. You can have fun doing water sport activities like boating, paddle boarding, swimming and fishing. There’s also many wonderful places to go camping.
Of course…there’s the famous Evans Plunge Mineral Springs. Since 1890, this 87-degree water has been a great place for the kids to splash and for parents to relax. Everyone is going to have a good time at the Springs. And I don’t think I would easily get my boys out of those springs! I could see spending a whole day here.
You can also see one of the world’s greatest fossil treasures, Mammoth Site. This 41,000-square-feet research center features an ancient sink hole of amazing Ice Age Animals. So cool! My oldest son would really get into this exhibit and I know I would too!
Anyone up for some cave exploring? Wild Cave National Park has one of the longest caves in the world. You can also hike or drive through the prairie and ponderosa pine forests of the park to see all kinds of animals like buffalo, elk, coyotes, and prairie dogs. My boys have never seen a buffalo!
I really think we are going to put South Dakota on our family bucket list! Do you have any vacation plans for the summer?
